Inter-site Links
Sometimes networks need to extend between distant buildings or throughout a campus area. WiFi systems are designed to support client stations in a local area network, and whilst this technology can be extended to provide simple inter-building links, it is often incapable of achieving the required security, performance and distance criteria.
In situations where high performance, high integrity, links are needed between distant points we will recommend purpose designed laser or wireless technology.
Point-to-point laser links are used by several of our clients to overcome medium range connectivity needs without recourse to the punishingly expensive telephone company provided solutions.
Laser links work well but need clear uninterrupted line-of-sight. Now some remarkable new radio technologies remove this limitation and offer secure links of up to 300Mb/s and distances up to 200km.
